Windows Explorer This method is a very easy way to use DDD-Drive on any Windows system ( 98, XP, Vista). No extra software is required to connect to DDD-Drive as it uses Windows Explorer to log in. Once connected, DDD-Drive functions as a drive in Windows Explorer and files can be dragged and dropped, in or out. Step by step connection instructions are included in the DDD-Drive Instruction Manual provided with DDD-Drive accounts.

DDD-Drive can be accessed through Internet Explorer, Firefox and other web browsers. Files can be easily transferred between DDD-Drive and local hard drives via any of the browsers. Windows Internet Explorer and Konqueror (Linux) integrate DDD-Drive into the local file browser. Firefox activates a built-in File Transfer client with an FTP plug-in. DDD recommends using Firefox with FireFTP for the best performance and feature set. Firefox helps make browsing more effective and efficient in general and add-ons can integrate all sorts of handy and powerful features. One of the more complete ways to manage your DDD-Drive is with an FTP client. DDD-Drive will work with any FTP client in Windows, Macintosh and Linux operating systems. If you don't already have an FTP client DDD recommends FileZilla, it's available for every operating system, is very versatile, multi-language and Free. FileZilla is also capable of connecting to DDD-Drive using FTP over explicit TLS. Another advantage of specialised backup software is that backing up the same files and folders is effortless. External HDDs are a physical form of immediate data backup and transfer between computers. They also used to return larger amounts of recovered data to data recovery clients. External HDDs can be connected to almost any computer usually without special drivers and function almost the same way an internal hard disk does. Most are connected via USB, FireWire and eSATA and the larger variety (3.5") come with their own power supplies. The connection types determine the transfer speed of data to external disks and recent developments have made them as fast as internal connected drives. They can be turned on only when required, making them less vulnerable to fatigue failure. Their portability and compatibility make them a handy way to physically transfer data. NAS - Network Attached Storage Regular External HDDs can only be connected to one computer at a time. External HDDs with network connections plug into a local network router and can backup, share and consolidate data from one central location. Settings can be configured via a web interface and data can be shared between multiple computers on the same network. These types of drives often hold up to 2 or more Terabytes (2 TB ~ 2000 GB) and come equipped with two or more physical disks which can be configured in RAID formations for extra data protection and performance. Recovered Data can also be transferred to a NAS device. This is recommended if you require a way to backup and share data with more than one computer. If you require the ultimate in backup protection you can use a system with RAID capability to employ RAID 1 mode so you can use disk mirroring to have a real time backup of all your data on two disks.
